How Do I Redirect a URL on Wix?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 5:47 am

There are a few different ways to redirect a URL on Wix.

One way to do it is to use the Wix Editor. To do this, simply click on the page you want to redirect in the editor, then click the settings gear icon in the top right corner.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

From here, you can select “Page Settings” and then scroll down to the “Page URL” section. Here, you can enter the new URL you want to redirect to in the “Redirect To” field.

Another way to redirect a URL on Wix is through their built-in SEO Wiz tool. To do this, go to your Wix Dashboard and click on “SEO Wiz” in the left-hand menu.

Once you’re in the SEO Wiz, click on the site you want to edit and then select “Page URLs” from the left-hand menu. Here, you can enter the old URL in the “Old URL” field and the new URL you want to redirect it to in the “New URL” field.

The last way to redirect a URL on Wix is by adding code to your site. This method is a bit more technical and is recommended for those who are comfortable working with code.

To do this, go to your Wix Dashboard and click on “Manage Site” in the left-hand menu. From here, select “Edit Site” and then click on “Add Code.” In the box that appears, enter the following code:

<script>
window.location = "new-url";
</script>

Be sure to replace “new-url” with the actual new URL you want to redirect to. Once you’ve added this code, simply publish your site and the URL will be redirected.

PRO TIP: When creating a website on Wix, be aware that you can redirect a URL to another URL on your site. However, this should be done with caution, as it can lead to broken links and pages that are not found.

Conclusion: Redirecting a URL on Wix is a fairly simple process, regardless of which method you choose. Whether you use the Wix Editor, SEO Wiz or add code to your site, you can easily change an old URL to a new one.
