How Do I Remove the Background From a Video in Canva?

There are many reasons you might want to remove the background from a video. Maybe you want to add text or a logo over the video, or create a gif from a video clip.

Whatever the reason, Canva makes it easy to remove the background from any video in just a few clicks. Here’s how:

First, open Canva and click on the “Create a design” button. Next, select “Video” from the list of design types. You can also search for “Video” in the search bar.

Once you’ve selected “Video,” you’ll be taken to a library of videos. Here, you can either upload your own video or choose one from our library of free videos.

To upload your own video, click on the “Upload your own” button and select the video file from your computer. To choose a video from our library, click on the video you want and then click on the “Use this video” button.

Once you’ve selected your video, it will be added to your design. Next, click on the “Background” tab in the toolbar at the top of the screen. This will open up a menu of different background options.

To remove the background from your video, first select the “Chroma Key” option. This will turn your background into a green screen.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, removing the background from a video in Canva can result in a low quality or distorted video.

Next, use your mouse to click and drag over the green area of the screen. As you do this, you’ll see the green area start to disappear. Keep clicking and dragging until all of the green is gone.

Once all of the green is gone, you can add a new background by clicking on the “+Add Background” button and selecting an image or color from our library. You can also upload your own image by clicking on the “Upload Image” button.

When you’re happy with your new background, click on the “Apply” button to save your changes.

Conclusion:

Removing backgrounds from videos is easy with Canva! Just select the “Chroma Key” option and use your mouse to click and drag over any green areas. You can then add a new background by clicking on the “+Add Background” button and selecting an image or color from our library.
