How Do I Resize a Canva Template?

Last updated on December 4, 2022 @ 8:49 pm

As a general rule, it is best to leave the size of a Canva design as is. But there may be times when you need to resize your design, for example, if you’re creating a social media post and want to make sure the image will fit within the platform’s parameters. Here’s how to do it:

    1. Log into your Canva account and select the design you want to resize

    2. Go to the “File” menu and select “Download”

    3. A pop-up window will appear – select “JPEG” from the drop-down menu and click “Download”

    4. Once the image has downloaded, open it in an image editor (such as Photoshop or GIMP).

    5. Go to “Image” in the top menu bar and select “Image Size”

    6. A new window will pop up – make sure the “Constrain Proportions” checkbox is ticked and then change either the width or height (whichever is appropriate for your needs) and click “OK”

    7. Save your resized image.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Canva or design software, we do not recommend trying to resize a Canva template. This can result in the template looking distorted or low quality. If you are unsure how to resize a Canva template, please reach out to a professional designer for help.
