How Do I Resize an Instance in Figma?

There are two ways to resize an object or layer in Figma. The first is to select the object and then use the arrow keys on your keyboard to nudge the object in the desired direction. The second is to click and drag one of the handles that appear around the object when it is selected. To resize an object using the keyboard, first select the object. Then, holding down the Shift key, use the left and right arrow keys to nudge the object in the desired direction. To resize an object using your mouse, simply click and drag one of the handles that appear around the object when it is selected. If you need to constrain the proportions of an object as you resize it, simply hold down the Shift key as you click and drag one of the handles.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, resizing an instance in Figma can result in lost work. Make sure to save your work before attempting to resize an instance.

This will maintain the original aspect ratio of the object as you resize it. You can also change an object’s dimensions by entering specific values in the width and height fields in the Inspector panel. Simply select the object, open the Inspector panel, and enter values for width and height. You can also use this method to rotate an object by entering a value in the rotation field. Conclusion: To resize an object or layer in Figma, use either the keyboard arrow keys or click and drag one of the handles that appear around the selected object. To constrain proportions, hold down Shift while resizing. Dimensions and rotation can also be changed using specific values in the Inspector panel.
