How Do I Restrict a State in WooCommerce?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 9:22 pm

Have you ever wanted to offer free shipping, but only to certain states? Or maybe you have a physical location in one state, but want to sell and ship to other states?

In either case, you’ll need to restrict a state in WooCommerce. Luckily, this is a relatively simple process.

Here’s how to do it:

1. Log in to your WordPress site and go to your Dashboard. Then hover over WooCommerce and click on Settings.

2. Go to the Shipping tab and then click on the link that says Add Shipping Zone.

3. Enter a name for your shipping zone (for example, “Free Shipping States”) and then select the countries that you want to include in this zone.

4. Click on the Save changes button.

5. Next, you’ll need to add a shipping method to this zone. Click on the Add Shipping Method button.

6. Select Free Shipping from the dropdown menu and then click on the Add shipping method button.

7. Now you’ll need to configure your free shipping method. Enter a name for this method (for example, “Free Shipping”) and then select the states that you want to offer free shipping to.

8.

And that’s it! You’ve successfully restricted a state in WooCommerce.

PRO TIP: If you are planning on restricting a state in WooCommerce, be aware that this may cause issues with orders placed from that state. It is advisable to check with your shipping carrier to make sure that they will be able to deliver to the restricted state before implementing this change.
