How Do I Save a Figma Frame as a GIF?

Last updated on December 2, 2022 @ 5:18 am

Figma is a great tool for designing user interfaces, and one of the things that makes it so powerful is its ability to animate interface elements. One of the most common ways to animate in Figma is to create a frame-by-frame animation, also known as an animated GIF.

To create a frame-by-frame animation in Figma:

    1. First, create your design in Figma.

    2. Next, select the component or elements that you want to animate and click on the “Animate” button in the toolbar.

    3. In the “Animation” panel that appears, select “Frame by Frame” from the Animation Type dropdown.

    4. Figma will automatically create a new frame for each component that you selected in step 2. You can then click on each frame to edit the design for that specific frame.

    5. To preview your animation, click on the “Play” button in the “Animation” panel.

    6. Once you’re happy with your animation, click on the “Export” button in the “Animation” panel and select “GIF” from the file type options.

    7. Enter a file name and choose a location to save your GIF, then click on the “Export” button.

That’s all there is to it! With just a few simple steps, you can easily create beautiful frame-by-frame animations in Figma.

PRO TIP: This article contains instructions on how to save a Figma frame as a GIF, but does not mention any potential risks or warnings associated with doing so. GIFs can be large files that take up a lot of disk space, and their creation can be resource-intensive. As such, it is important to be aware of these potential risks before proceeding.
