Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 11:45 pm

In Photoshop, there are two ways to select a layer by clicking on its content. The first method is to click on the layer in the Layers panel, and then click on the layer content in the document window. The second method is to Control-click (Windows) or Command-click (Mac OS) on the layer content in the document window.

To select a layer in Photoshop by clicking on its content:

1. In the Layers panel, click on the layer that you want to select. 2.

In the document window, click on the layer content that you want to select. 3. To select multiple layers, hold down the Shift key and click on the layers that you want to select.

PRO TIP: If you select a layer in Photoshop by clicking on the layer content, you may accidentally move or delete the layer content.

To Control-click (Windows) or Command-click (Mac OS) on the layer content in the document window:

1. In the document window, Control-click (Windows) or Command-click (Mac OS) on the layer content that you want to select.

2. To select multiple layers, hold down the Shift key and Control-click (Windows) or Command-click (Mac OS) on the layers that you want to select.
