How Do I Set Variable Products in WooCommerce?

Last updated on October 2, 2022 @ 12:06 am

A variable product in WooCommerce is a product that has multiple variations, each with their own price, stock option, and SKU. For example, a t-shirt might come in different colors and sizes, each with its own SKU.

To add a variable product to your WooCommerce store, follow these steps:

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with WooCommerce, we strongly recommend that you seek out a professional to help you set up your variable products. Incorrectly setting up your products can result in lost sales and unhappy customers.
  1. From your WordPress admin panel, navigate to Products > Add New
  2. Give your product a name and description
  3. Click on the Product Data tab and select the Variable product type from the dropdown
  4. Configure your variable product settings:
    1. General: Enter a price for your product. If your product has multiple variations, each with their own price, you can leave the Price field blank. Prices can be entered with or without tax, depending on your WooCommerce settings.
    2. Inventory: If you want to track inventory for this product, enter a SKU and choose whether or not to enable stock management at the variation level. If you don’t want to track inventory for this product, leave these fields blank.

To add variations to your variable product, click on the Variations tab and then click on the Add Variation button.

A new row will appear where you can enter all the details for that variation.

Once you have added all the variations for your product, click on the Publish button to make your variable product live on your WooCommerce store.

Conclusion:

Adding a variable product in WooCommerce is straightforward once you understand how it works. Simply add all the necessary details for your main product, then add variations for each of the options (color, size, etc.) that are available. Don’t forget to click “Publish” ,and your Variable Product will be live on your store!
