When you are setting up an online store, one of the first things you need to do is to choose a platform. There are many different eCommerce platforms available, but one of the most popular is WooCommerce.
One of the great things about WooCommerce is that it is highly customizable. You can add and remove features as you see fit, and one of the features you can add is a direct link to the checkout page from the product page.
However, some people may not want to have a cart page on their site. Maybe they only want to sell one product, or maybe they want to reduce the number of steps required to purchase a product. Whatever the reason, it is possible to skip the WooCommerce cart page and redirect customers straight to the checkout page.
The first thing you need to do is install and activate the WooCommerce Direct Checkout plugin. For more information, see our guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.
Once the plugin is activated, you need to go to WooCommerce → Settings → Checkout. On this page, you will find the Direct Checkout section where you can configure the plugin’s settings.
There are three options that you can choose from:
- Redirect to Cart Page: This is the default behavior. It means that after adding a product to their cart, customers will be redirected back to the cart page.
- Redirect First Time Users Only:: This option will only redirect customers to the checkout page if they have never been to your store before.
- Redirect All Users:: As the name suggests, this option will redirect all users (first time and returning) straight to the checkout page after they add a product their cart.
- Choose Payment Gateways: (You can select more than one gateway by holding down CTRL (PC) / CMD (Mac) while selecting.) By default, all gateways are selected.
Clicking on a gateway name below will select only that gateway.
Default Payment Gateway for New Customers: (This gateway will be selected by default for new customers.
Replace “Proceed To Checkout” Button with Checkout Page Link? (If enabled, this will replace “Proceed To Checkout” button with a direct link to your checkout page on single product pages and mini carts.) Yes
