If you need to increase the size of only part of an image in Photoshop, you can use the Free Transform tool. With the layer that you want to resize selected in the Layers panel, select Edit > Free Transform, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+T (Windows) or Cmd+T (macOS). Then, click and drag a corner handle of the bounding box to resize only that corner of the layer. As you drag a corner handle away from its opposite side, Photoshop scales the layer content non-proportionally.

PRO TIP: How Do I Stretch Part of an Image in Photoshop?

If you are planning on stretching part of an image in Photoshop, be warned that this can lead to some undesirable results. First, the stretched portion of the image will likely become distorted and lose some quality. Additionally, if the image is not stretched evenly across its entire width or height, it will look uneven and unprofessional. Finally, if you are not careful with your stretching settings, you may end up with an image that is too large or small for your needs. If you must stretch part of an image in Photoshop, be sure to do so carefully and with caution.

To resize proportionally, press and hold Shift as you click and drag a corner handle. Depending on which side of the layer you want to expand, you might also need to move the layer content so that it doesn’t get cropped out of the document. To do this, click inside the bounding box and drag the layer content.
