How Do I Turn Off Auto Selection in Photoshop?

If you’re using Photoshop for web design, you’ll find that there’s a handy feature called “Auto Select.” This allows you to quickly and easily select an object on a layer just by clicking on it. However, there may be times when you don’t want this feature to be enabled.

Maybe you’re working with a complex image and you don’t want to accidentally select the wrong object. Or maybe you just want more control over your selections. Here’s how to turn off Auto Select in Photoshop:

1. Open your Photoshop project.

2. Click on the “Edit” menu at the top of the screen.

3. Select “Preferences” from the drop-down menu.

4. Click on “Tools” in the Preferences window.

5. Uncheck the box next to “Auto Select.”

6. Click “OK” to save your changes and close the Preferences window.

Now when you click on an object in your project, it won’t automatically be selected. You can still select objects by using the various selection tools, or by holding down the Shift key while clicking on multiple objects.

To turn off auto selection in Photoshop, go to Edit > Preferences > Tools and uncheck the box next to ‘Auto Select.’ This will disable the feature so that clicking on an object will not automatically select it. You can still select objects manually using selection tools or by holding down Shift while clicking on multiple objects.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, auto selection in Photoshop can cause unwanted changes to your images. Be sure to save your work often and create backups before turning off auto selection.
