How Do I Unmap a Domain on Squarespace?

When you map a domain to Squarespace, we create a CNAME record in your DNS settings. This points your root domain (like yourdomain.com) to Squarespace.

You can remove this mapping at any time from your Domains panel. If you’re not sure how to access your DNS settings, contact your domain provider.

To unmap a domain:

1. Log into your Squarespace account and go to the Domains panel.

2. Click the checkbox next to the domain you want to unmap, then click Unmap.

3. In the Unmap Domain dialog box, click Unmap.

We’ll send you an email confirming that the domain has been unmapped.

Note:

If you have more than one site in your account, make sure you’re in the correct one before unmapping the domain. You can tell which site you’re currently viewing by looking at the URL in your browser’s address bar. The part after www.Squarespace.com/ will match the site identifier in your Domains panel.

PRO TIP: If you are considering un mapping a domain on Squarespace, be aware that this action is permanent and cannot be undone. Once you have un mapped a domain, it can no longer be used with your Squarespace site.
