How Do I Upload HTML Verification File to Weebly?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 4:26 pm

There are two ways to verify your site with Weebly:

1. Use our DNS verification (recommended).

2. Upload an HTML verification file to your server.

DNS Verification (Recommended)

DNS verification is the recommended method to verify your site with Weebly. To do this, you will need to add a CNAME record to your DNS settings. This will tell Weebly that you own the domain and give us permission to publish your site.

PRO TIP: Warning – If you are not familiar with HTML or website design, do not attempt to upload an HTML verification file to Weebly. This can result in errors on your website that can be difficult to fix. If you are not comfortable working with code, it is best to leave this task to a professional.

Step 1: Log in to your account with your registrar (the company you purchased your domain from).

Step 2: Find the page where you can update your DNS records. This is usually in a section called “DNS Management,” “Name Server Management,” “Domain Management,” or something similar.

Step 3: Add a new CNAME record. The hostname should be “www” and the points to address should be “sites.Weebly.com”.

Step 4: Save your changes.

Step 5:Click here, enter your domain name, and then click “Check DNS.”. If the CNAME record is set up correctly, you will see a green check mark next to “DNS Verification.” If you see a red X, please check that the CNAME record is set up correctly and try again.. Once you see the green check mark, click “Verify Domain.”.

Your site is now verified!. . :You can now publish your site.: : : : : : : : :You can now publish your site..

HTML Verification File Upload (Advanced Users)

  1. Upload an HTML file provided by Weebly to your server.

    1) Download this file:               Weeblyfile 1499134856433.html (5 KB)
    2) Upload it into the root directory of your website.
    3) Verify that the file was uploaded correctly by visiting: http://www.(yourdomain).com/(filename).html. For example, if my domain was example.com and I uploaded the file as Weeblyfile 1499134856433 .html, I would visit http://www .example .com / Weeblyfile 1499134856433 .html in my browser.
    4) Once you have verified that the file is accessible, go back to Weebly and enter the full URL path to the file in the box labeled "File Path on Server" and click verify.
    5) That’s it! Your site is now verified! You can now publish your site.
