Digital painting is a process where traditional painting techniques are applied to a digital canvas using software. The advantage of digital painting over traditional painting is that it allows the artist to easily make changes and corrections to their work without having to start over from scratch. Photoshop CC is a popular software program for digital painting, and in this article we will show you how to use it to create your own digital paintings.
To get started, you will need to create a new file in Photoshop CC. You can do this by going to the File menu and selecting New.
A new window will open where you can set the width and height of your new file. Make sure the resolution is set to 300 pixels/inch and that the background is set to white. Once you have your new file created, you can start adding paint strokes by selecting the Brush tool from the Tools palette.
When you have the Brush tool selected, you can choose from a variety of different brush tips that come with Photoshop CC. To change the size of your brush tip, simply use the Bracket keys on your keyboard ([ or ]).
To change the hardness of your brush tip, hold down the Shift key and press the Bracket keys ([ or ]). The harder your brush tip, the more defined your brush strokes will be. If you want a softer brush stroke, make sure your brush tip is set to 100% hardness.
Now that you have selected a brush tip, it’s time to start painting! To do this, simply click and drag your mouse across the canvas.
As you paint, you will notice that the color of your brush stroke will change based on the color that is currently selected in the Foreground Color box in the Tools palette. If you want to change colors while painting, simply click on the color you want to use in the Foreground Color box and then continue painting. You can also use Photoshop’s built-in color swatches to quickly select colors while painting.
Once you are finished painting, you can save your work by going to the File menu and selecting Save As. In the Save As dialog box, make sure to select JPEG from the Format drop-down menu and then click Save.
Congratulations! You have now created your first digital painting using Photoshop CC.
