How Do I Verify My Domain on Squarespace?

Last updated on December 23, 2022 @ 7:24 am

There are two ways to verify your domain on Squarespace. The first is to use DNS verification, and the second is through an HTML file.

DNS verification is the recommended method, as it’s the simplest and most reliable. To do this, you’ll need to add a DNS record to your domain’s settings. This will tell our servers that you own the domain, and allow us to automatically set up a secure SSL certificate for your site.

If you’re not able to add a DNS record, or if you’re using a third-party DNS provider, you can verify your domain by uploading an HTML file to your server. This file contains a verification code that tells our servers that you own the domain.

To get started with DNS verification, log in to your Squarespace account and go to the Domains panel. Then, click on the verified domain that you want to use with Squarespace.

Next, click the DNS button next to the domain name. This will open up a panel with instructions for adding a DNS record.

Follow the instructions to add a TXT record with the provided code. Once you’ve added the record, come back to the Squarespace panel and click Verify. Our servers will check for the DNS record, and if it finds it, your domain will be verified automatically.

If you’re not able to add a DNS record, you can verify your domain by uploading an HTML file instead. To do this, log in to your Squaresspace account and go to the Domains panel.

Next, click on the Verify button next to the domain name. This will open up a panel with instructions for verifying your domain.

Scroll down to the section labeled “Alternative Methods” and click on the link labeled “Verify by Uploading an HTML File.” This will take you to a page with instructions for uploading the HTML file.

Follow the instructions on this page to upload the HTML file to your server. Once it’s been uploaded, come back to the Squarespace panel and click Verify. Our servers will check for the file, and if it finds it, your domain will be verified automatically.

PRO TIP: If you are verifying your domain on Squarespace, be aware that there are some risks involved. There is a possibility that your domain could be suspended or even deleted if you do not follow the instructions carefully. Make sure you understand the process before you begin, and be sure to follow all the steps correctly.
