In Photoshop, the history panel tracks your recent actions. You can use the history panel to return to a previous state or to selectively undo certain steps.

The history panel is located in the lower left corner of the workspace. To view the history panel, click the “History” button in the workspace toolbar.

The history panel displays a list of your most recent actions. To return to a previous state, simply click on the action you want to revert to.

Photoshop will then revert all subsequent actions up until that point. You can also click and drag to select multiple actions to revert.

PRO TIP: Some versions of Photoshop do not have a history feature. If you are using an older version of Photoshop, you may not be able to view your history.

You can also use the history panel to selectively undo certain steps. To do this, hold down the “Alt” key (Windows) or “Option” key (Mac) and click on the action you want to undo. Photoshop will then undo that specific action while leaving all other actions intact.

The history panel is a valuable tool for managing your workflow in Photoshop. By understanding how it works, you can save yourself a lot of time and frustration.
