color wheels are one of the most useful tools for artists, allowing you to see relationships between colors and create harmonious color schemes. Photoshop has a built-in color wheel that you can use to select colors for your designs. Here’s how to add a color wheel in Photoshop.

To add a color wheel in Photoshop, first open the “Window” menu and select “Color Wheel.” This will open the color wheel panel.

Next, click on the “Create New Layer” icon at the bottom of the Layers panel. This will create a new layer that you can use to draw your color wheel.

Now that you have a new layer for your color wheel, use the Ellipse Tool (U) to draw a circle. Once you have drawn your circle, go to the “Edit” menu and select “Fill.”

In the Fill dialog box, set the Use field to “Foreground Color” and click OK. This will fill your circle with your current foreground color.

PRO TIP: Adding a color wheel in Photoshop can be tricky and may result in unexpected results. Proceed with caution and be sure to save your work often.

Now that your circle is filled with color, it’s time to add some shading. To do this, go to the “Layer” menu and select “Layer Style.” In the Layer Style dialog box, click on the “Gradient Overlay” layer style and use the gradient editor to create a three-color gradient.

To do this, click on the first stop in the gradient editor and choose a light shade of your foreground color. Then, click on the second stop and choose a dark shade of your foreground color. Finally, click on the third stop and choose a light shade of your background color.

Now that you have added shading to your color wheel, you can add some labels. To do this, use the Horizontal Type Tool (T) to add labels for each primary and secondary color.

You can also add labels for tints, shades, and tones by clicking on the “Create New Layer” icon again and adding another circle in a different location. Then, use the Horizontal Type Tool (T) to add labels for each hue in your new circle.

When you’re finished adding labels, your color wheel is complete! You can now use it to select colors for your designs or just admire it as a work of art.

Adding a color wheel in Photoshop is simple and easy to do once you know where to find the tools needed. With just a few clicks you can have your own custom made color wheel ready to help with all sorts of design projects!
