How Do You Add a Ruler in Figma?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 10:38 pm

There are two ways to add a ruler in Figma. The first is to use the “Ruler” tool, which can be found in the Tools panel.

To use this tool, simply click and drag on the canvas to create a horizontal or vertical ruler. You can also click on an existing object to create a ruler that is parallel to that object.

PRO TIP: If you are planning on adding a ruler in Figma, be aware that there are a few potential dangers. First, if you’re not careful, you could end up with two rulers that are not exactly aligned. This could lead to some problems when you’re trying to use the ruler to measure something. Second, if you add a ruler to a layer that already has objects on it, those objects will likely be moved around when you add the ruler. So be sure to add the ruler to an empty layer, or to a layer that only contains other rulers.

The second way to add a ruler is to use the “Ruler Settings” dialog box. This dialog box can be accessed by selecting “Ruler Settings” from the View menu.

In this dialog box, you can specify the units (inches, centimeters, etc. ), the increment (how far apart each tick mark should be), and the color of the rulers.
