How Do You Add a Vignette in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 8:59 pm

There are a few different ways that you can add a vignette in Photoshop. One way is to use the Lens Correction filter. Go to Filter > Lens Correction. In the Filter window, go to the Vignette section and drag the Amount slider to the left to add a vignette. You can also adjust the Midpoint and Roundness sliders to change the shape of the vignette.

Another way to add a vignette is to use the Elliptical Marquee Tool. Create an oval selection around the edge of your image. Go to Select > Modify > Feather and enter a value of around 500 pixels.

Press OK. Inverse the selection (Select > Inverse) and press Delete. Deselect (Ctrl/Cmd+D).

PRO TIP: Adding a vignette in Photoshop can be a bit tricky. If you’re not careful, you can end up with a vignette that looks artificial and out of place. Here are a few things to keep in mind when adding a vignette in Photoshop:

1. Make sure the vignette is subtle. A heavy vignette can look very artificial and can be quite distracting.

2. Use a soft-edged brush when adding the vignette. This will help create a more natural look.

3. Be careful not to add too much darkness around the edges of the image. A little bit of darkness is all that’s needed to create a nice vignette effect.

4. Adjust the opacity of the vignette layer to taste. You may want to start with a lower opacity and then increase it until you’re happy with the results.

You can also add a vignette by creating a new layer and filling it with black. Go to Layer > New Layer. Click OK when prompted for the name and color of the new layer. Select the Gradient Tool and choose a black to transparent gradient in the options bar at the top of the screen. Drag out a gradient from the edge of your image inward. Change the layer blending mode to Multiply and lower the opacity until you’re happy with the result.

There are many different ways that you can add a vignette in Photoshop, each with its own unique look. Experiment with different methods until you find one that you like best.
