How Do You Add an Artboard to an Image in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 2:12 pm

Artboards are a relatively new addition to Photoshop, first appearing in CS6. They provide a quick and easy way to create multiple layouts for different devices or different page sizes within the same document. You can add as many artboards as you like, and each one can have its own layers, colors, and design.

To add an artboard to an image in Photoshop, first open the image in Photoshop. Then, go to the “File” menu at the top of the screen and select “New.”

This will open a new window. In this window, select “Artboard” from the “New Document Type” menu.

PRO TIP: Adding an artboard to an image in Photoshop can potentially distort the image. Be sure to check the image size and resolution before adding an artboard to avoid any unwanted changes.

Once you’ve selected “Artboard,” you’ll be able to choose the size of your artboard. You can either enter the width and height manually, or you can select one of the preset sizes from the “Size” drop-down menu. After you’ve chosen the size of your artboard, click “OK” to create it.

Your new artboard will appear as a separate layer in your image. You can move it around by clicking and dragging it, or you can change its position by going to the “Layer” menu at the top of the screen and selecting “Arrange.” If you want to delete an artboard, simply click on it and press the “delete” key on your keyboard.
