Product variation is a product type in WooCommerce that lets you offer a set of similar products, each with their own unique SKU and price. By default, variations are displayed as dropdowns on the product page, but you can also display them as radio buttons or color swatches.
There are two types of product variation:
- Variable product: A variable product is a product with multiple variations, each of which has its own SKU and price. For example, a t-shirt might be available in multiple colors and sizes, each with its own SKU and price.
- Variation: A variation is a single instance of a variable product. For example, a particular color and size of the t-shirt mentioned above would be a single variation.
To add variations to a WooCommerce product, follow these steps:
- Create a variable product: Go to WooCommerce > Products > Add New. Select Variable product from the Product Data dropdown.
Then, enter a Product Title, Description, and other general information for the product. - Add variations: Under the “Product Data” tab, scroll down to the “Variations” section. Here, you can add new variations or edit existing ones. To add a new variation, click the “Add Variation” button. This will open up the “Edit Variation” dialog where you can enter information about the variation, such as SKU, price, image, etc.
- If needed, you can configure additional settings for your variations under the “Variation Settings” section.
- Default Form Values: You can set default values for the attributes that will be used when creating new variations.
