There are times when you need to change the size or shape of an image in Photoshop, but you don’t want to distort the image. Thankfully, Photoshop has a tool that allows you to do just that.
The Free Transform tool is located in the Edit menu. To access it, simply go to Edit > Free Transform.
Once you have the tool selected, you can then click and drag on the image to resize it. If you hold down the Shift key while doing this, it will constrain the proportions of the image, so it doesn’t get distorted.
You can also use the Free Transform tool to rotate an image. Just hover your mouse outside of one of the corner handles and then click and drag to rotate it. Again, if you hold down the Shift key while doing this, it will constrain the rotation so that it doesn’t get distorted.
If you need to move an image around, you can do so with the Free Transform tool as well. Just click anywhere inside of the bounding box and then click and drag to move it. You can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard to nudge an image around if you need more precise control.
Once you’re done making your changes, just hit Enter (or Return) on your keyboard and Photoshop will apply the changes. If you decide that you don’t like the changes after all, simply hit Esc and they’ll be undone.
