How Do You Know if Fiverr Reviews Are Fake?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 11:06 pm

Have you ever wondered if those positive Fiverr reviews are real? Or if the five-star rating system is just a sham?

It’s no secret that some businesses offer fake reviews to boost their own ratings. But does Fiverr allow this?

The short answer is yes, but it’s not as simple as that. Here’s what you need to know about Fiverr reviews and how to tell if they’re fake.

Fiverr is a marketplace where businesses can find freelance services to outsource. It’s similar to other sites like UpWork and PeoplePerHour, but with one key difference: all services on Fiverr start at just $5.

This low price point makes Fiverr an attractive option for businesses on a budget, but it also means that the quality of services can be hit and miss. To help buyers choose the best freelancers, Fiverr uses a star rating system.

However, this rating system is not without its problems. Because anyone can leave a review, there’s no guarantee that it’s accurate or even real. In fact, it’s not uncommon for businesses to offer incentives for positive reviews, or even pay for them outright.

So how can you tell if a Fiverr review is real? Here are some things to look out for:

1. The language used in the review. Fake reviews often contain lots of superlatives (words like “amazing,” “fantastic,” “best ever,” etc.) and exclamation points. They may also be shorter than average and lack any real detail about the work that was done.

2. The timing of the review. If you see a sudden spike in positive reviews for a freelancer, it could be a sign that they’ve bought fake reviews. Look out for patterns like all 5-star reviews within a short space of time, or several positive reviews from different users within a day or two.

3. The user’s profile. Take a look at the user who left the review. Do they have any other reviews?

If so, what do they say? Are they all 5 stars? If so, that might be a sign that they’re fake. Also, check to see if the user has any connection to the freelancer (e.g., they’re from the same country or have worked together before). This isn’t always suspicious, but it’s worth taking into account.

4. The content of the review. Does the review seem genuine? Or does it read like a sales pitch? Fake reviews often lack specifics about the work that was done and instead focus on praising the freelancer in general terms.

PRO TIP: If you’re considering using Fiverr to hire someone for a project, be aware that there is a possibility that the reviews you read are fake. It’s not uncommon for people to create fake accounts and leave positive reviews for themselves, or to pay others to do the same. This can make it difficult to know if the person you’re hiring is actually as good as they claim to be. Do your research and be sure to read both positive and negative reviews before making a decision.
