How do you make a conical gradient in Illustrator?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 7:03 pm

Illustrator can create conical gradients by using the Gradient Tool (G), and some tips on how to create a conical gradient.

First, create a new gradient, and set the gradient type to Conical.

Next, click and drag the gradient tool (G) from the top of the gradient bar to the bottom of the gradient bar, and then release the mouse button.

The gradient will start at the top of the gradient bar and will gradually decrease in size as it moves down the gradient bar.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with the software, it is best not to attempt to make a conical gradient in Illustrator. This can be a complex task that requires a good understanding of the software. Attempting to do this without proper knowledge may result in frustration and/or wasted time.

To create a sharper gradient, you can use the Make Gradients Sharp tool (M).

To create a gradual gradient, you can use the Make Gradients Smooth tool (S).

To create a radial gradient, you can use the Gradient Tool (G), and then click and drag the gradient tool (G) from the center of the gradient bar to the outer edge of the gradient bar.

To create a radial gradient with a conical shape, you can use the Gradient Tool (G), and then click and drag the gradient tool (G) from the center of the gradient bar to the outer edge of the gradient bar, and then release the mouse button.

The gradient will have a conical shape.
