How Do You Make a Fake Tattoo in Photoshop?

Last updated on November 22, 2022 @ 1:59 pm

If you’re looking to add some fake tattoos to your photos without actually going through the pain of getting inked, then you can do so easily using Photoshop. Here’s how:

1. Open up your image in Photoshop.

If you want to add a tattoo to a person’s arm, for example, use the Lasso Tool to draw a selection around that area. Then, create a new layer by clicking on the “Create a new layer” icon at the bottom of the Layers palette.

2. Now, with your new layer selected, go to the Edit menu and choose “Fill.” In the dialogue box that appears, select “Pattern” from the Use drop-down menu and then click on the “OK” button.

3. This will open up the Pattern Picker dialogue box. Choose any tattoo design you like from the selection of patterns and then click on the “OK” button.

4. Now, your tattoo design will be applied to your layer.

To adjust its size, use the Free Transform command (Edit > Free Transform or Ctrl/Cmd+T). To change its color, go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation (or simply double-click on the Hue/Saturation layer in the Layers palette).

5. Finally, if you want to add some realistic details to your tattoo, such as shading or highlights, use a soft-edged brush set to a low opacity (around 20%) and paint over areas of the tattoo accordingly.

Conclusion:

With Photoshop, you can easily add fake tattoos to your photos without having to go through the pain of actually getting inked! Simply create a new layer, fill it with a pattern of your choice, and then adjust its size and color as desired. To make your tattoo look more realistic, don’t forget to add some shading or highlights.

PRO TIP: Photoshop is a powerful tool that can be used to create fake tattoos. However, if not used correctly, it can create some very realistic looking fake tattoos that can fool even the most experienced tattoo artists. If you are considering using Photoshop to create a fake tattoo, please be sure to use a reference image that is of good quality and resolution. Otherwise, you may end up with a tattoo that looks nothing like the reference image.
