How Do You Make a Medieval Metallic Text Effect in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 3:01 pm

Medieval texts often had a very ornate, decorative style. If you want to create a similar effect in Photoshop, there are a few things you can do.

First, open up a new document and select the “Text” tool. Then, click anywhere on your canvas to create a text box. Type out whatever text you want to use in your design.

Next, go to the “Character” panel and select a font that has an ornate, decorative style. Old English or Gothic fonts would work well for this. Adjust the size of the font until it is to your liking.

Now that your text is set up, it’s time to add some effects. Go to the “Layer Styles” panel and select “Stroke” from the list of options. Adjust the size, color, and position of the stroke until it looks good with your design.

Then, still in the “Layer Styles” panel, select “Outer Glow” from the list of options. Again, adjust the size, color, and position of the glow until it looks good with your design.

Finally, go to the “Blending Options” at the top of the “Layer Styles” panel and set the mode to “Screen”. This will make your text appear more like it is printed on parchment paper.

Your text should now have a metallic look that is perfect for medieval or Renaissance-style designs. Experiment with different fonts, sizes, colors, and effects to get the perfect look for your project.
