How Do You Make a Mock Up Shirt in Photoshop?

Mock ups are a great way to see how your design will look on a shirt before you print it. You can use Photoshop to create a mock up of your shirt design.

Start by creating a new document in Photoshop that is the size of your shirt. You can do this by going to File > New.

In the New Document window, enter the width and height of your shirt. The resolution should be 300 pixels/inch. Click OK to create the new document.

Next, you will need to add your design to the document. If you have a PNG or JPEG file of your design, you can simply drag and drop it into the document.

PRO TIP: This article contains graphic images that some readers may find disturbing.

If you have a vector file, you will need to first open it in Illustrator and then copy and paste it into Photoshop. Once your design is in the document, you can resize it and position it as desired.

To see how your design will look on a colored shirt, you can create a new layer beneath your design and fill it with the color of your choice. To do this, click on the New Layer icon at the bottom of the Layers panel. A new layer will appear in the panel. Next, select the Brush tool from the Toolbox and choose a color from the Swatches panel.

Then click on the layer beneath your design and paint over it with the color you selected. You can also add simulated lighting effects to your mock up by creating a new layer and filling it with white. Then use the Eraser tool to remove parts of the white layer, revealing the color beneath it (this will simulate light shining on your design).

Once you are happy with how your mock up looks, you can save it as a JPEG or PNG file by going to File > Save As. In the Save As window, select JPEG or PNG from the Format drop-down menu and click Save.
