Spirals are a common design element in nature and art. They can be created using various methods in Photoshop. In this article, we will show you how to create a spiral in Photoshop.

Creating a Basic Spiral

The most basic way to create a spiral in Photoshop is to use the Pen Tool. Begin by creating a new document (Ctrl/Cmd+N). Next, select the Pen Tool from the Tools palette (P).

Click once on the document to create a starting point for your spiral. Next, click and drag to create the first curve of your spiral.

As you drag, you will see a line appear that represents the path you are creating. Release the mouse button when you have reached the desired end point for this first curve.

To continue creating your spiral, position your cursor over the endpoint of the last curve you created. You should see a small circle next to your cursor, indicating that you can now continue drawing from this point.

Click and drag to create another curve. Repeat this process until you have created the desired spiral shape.

Creating a Complex Spiral

If you want to create a more complex spiral shape, you can use the Custom Shape Tool (U). First, select this tool from the Tools palette. Then, click on the Shape drop-down menu and choose Spiral from the list of shapes.

Click and drag on your document to create your spiral shape. You can adjust the size and orientation of your spiral by holding down Shift while dragging or by using the Transform Tool (Ctrl/Cmd+T).
