Creating a Tech Pack in Canva
1. Go to www.canva.com and create a free account. 2. Once you have created an account and logged in, click on the “Create a design” button in the top left-hand corner of the screen. 3. A menu will pop up. Select “Document” from the menu. 4. Select the “US Letter” size from the drop-down menu and click on the “Create New Design” button. 5.
You will be taken to the Canva workspace. On the left-hand side of the screen, you will see a menu of templates that you can use for your design. For this tutorial, we will be using a blank template, so scroll down until you find the “Blank” option and click on it. 6. Once you have selected the blank template, you will be taken to the canvas area where you can begin designing your tech pack. 7. To add text to your design, click on the “Text” button in the top toolbar and select the “Add Heading” option from the drop-down menu. A text box will appear on your canvas where you can type in your heading text. 8. To format your text, select the text box by clicking on it with your mouse cursor and then use the options that appear in the top toolbar to change things like the font, color, and alignment of your text.
9. To add an image to your tech pack, click on the “Uploads” button in the top toolbar (it looks like a cloud with an arrow pointing up into it) and select either “Upload an image” or “Pixabay Images” from the drop-down menu.
10 If you select “Upload an image,” you will be able to choose an image from your computer to upload into Canva.
11 If you select “Pixabay Images,” you will be able to search for royalty-free images that you can use in your design.
12 To add additional elements to your design (such as shapes or lines), click on either the “Elements” or “Shapes” buttons in the top toolbar.
13 To save your design, click on the “File” menu in the top toolbar and select either “Download” or “Publish Publicly” from the drop-down menu.
14 If you select “Download,” you will be able to choose what file format you want to save your design as (such as JPG or PNG).
15 If you select “Publish Publicly,” your design will be saved as a URL that you can share with others.
