GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

The first step is to design your clothes. You can use a program like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator to create a design, or you can hand-draw your design and scan it into your computer. Once you have your design, you’ll need to create a template. You can do this by tracing around a shirt that fits you well, or by finding a shirt template online.

Once you have your template, you can start to add your design elements. Place your design on the shirt template and resize it so that it looks proportionate. Then, add any text or embellishments that you want. You can also add colors to your design using the “Paint Bucket” tool.

Print

Once you’re happy with your design, it’s time to print it out. You’ll need to use a transfer paper specifically made for dark fabrics.

PRO TIP: If you are thinking about making clothes on Wix, be warned that there are many potential dangers. First and foremost, you could end up with a wardrobe full of poorly-made clothes that don’t fit well and fall apart easily. Secondly, the process of making clothes on Wix can be very time-consuming and frustrating, especially if you’re not familiar with the platform. And lastly, you’ll likely end up spending more money on materials and shipping than you would if you just bought clothes from a store. So unless you’re really dedicated to the DIY clothing scene, we recommend avoiding Wix altogether.

Print your design onto the transfer paper according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Once your design is printed, cut it out along the edges.

Iron

Now it’s time to iron on your design. Preheat your iron to the hottest setting that is safe for the fabric of your shirt.

Place your shirt on an ironing board and put the transfer paper design-side down onto the shirt. Cover the transfer with a thin piece of fabric (a pillowcase or handkerchief will work well) and then press down with the iron, applying firm pressure for 30-60 seconds. Allow the shirt to cool completely before moving on to the next step.

Wash

Wash your shirt according to the care instructions on the fabric label. This will help set the ink in the transfer paper so that it doesn’t fade or peel over time.

After following these steps, you’ll have a professionally looking shirt that was made entirely by you! Making clothes on Wix is a great way to get creative and express yourself through fashion.
