How Do You Overlay Layers in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 8:47 pm

There are a few different ways to overlay layers in Photoshop. One way is to use the “Layers” panel.

You can access this panel by going to Window > Layers. In the “Layers” panel, you will see a list of all the layers in your document. To overlay one layer on top of another, simply drag and drop the layer you want to be on top onto the layer you want it to be underneath.

Another way to overlay layers is to use the “Blend Modes” drop-down menu. To access this menu, go to Layer > Layer Style > Blending Options.

PRO TIP: Overlaying layers in Photoshop can create a number of different effects on an image, depending on the settings and options you choose. Be aware that some options may result in the loss of image quality, or unwanted artifacts in the final image.

In the “Blend Modes” menu, you will see a list of different blending modes. Each blending mode will give your layer a different effect. To overlay one layer on top of another, simply select the blending mode that you want and then click OK.

The last way to overlay layers is to use the “Opacity” slider. To access this slider, go to Layer > Opacity.

The opacity of a layer determines how transparent it is. A layer with an opacity of 100% is completely opaque, while a layer with an opacity of 0% is completely transparent. To overlay one layer on top of another, simply adjust the opacity of the top layer until you are happy with the result.

No matter which method you use to overlay layers, experiment with different options until you find a look that you like!
