How Do You Override Components in Figma?

There are many ways to override components in Figma. The most common way is to use the layer properties panel.

You can also use the Inspector or the right-click menu.

Layer Properties Panel

To override a component using the layer properties panel, first select the component you want to override. Then, in the layer properties panel, click on the “Override” button. This will bring up a menu of all the properties that you can override.

Select the property you want to override and then click on the “Override” button again.

This will bring up a menu of all the different values you can set for that property. Choose the value you want and then click on the “Apply” button.

PRO TIP: If you override a component in Figma, any changes you make to that component will propagate to every instance of it in your file. This could lead to unexpected changes and may cause problems with your design.

You can also override multiple properties at once by selecting them from the menu and then clicking on the “Override” button. To remove an override, simply select it from the menu and then click on the “Remove” button.
