When you first open up Photoshop, you’ll see a variety of different tools and panels. One of the most important tools you’ll use is the background eraser tool.
This tool allows you to remove the background from an image, and is perfect for when you want to replace the background with something else. Here’s how to use the background eraser tool to remove the background from an image in Photoshop.
Step One: Select the Background Eraser Tool
To select the background eraser tool, simply click on it in the toolbar on the left hand side of the screen. Alternatively, you can press the letter “E” on your keyboard to select it.
Step Two: Choose a Brush Size
Now that you have selected the background eraser tool, it’s time to choose a brush size. You can do this by clicking on the drop down menu that says “Brush” in the options bar at the top of the screen.
Here, you can choose from a variety of different brush sizes. Choose one that is appropriate for the size of your image.
Step Three: Erase the Background
Once you have chosen a brush size, it’s time to start erasing the background. Simply click and drag your mouse over the areas of the background that you want to remove.
As you do this, you’ll see the background start to disappear. Keep going until you’ve removed all of the background that you want.
Step Four: Add a New Background
Once you’ve removed all of the unwanted background, it’s time to add a new one! To do this, simply go to File > New > Background.
Here, you can choose from a variety of different backgrounds. Simply select one and click OK.
Step Five: Save Your Image
Now that you’ve added a new background, it’s time to save your image. To do this, go to File > Save As.
Here, you can choose where you want to save your image and what format you want to save it in. Once you’ve done this, simply click Save.
