It’s that time of year again! Time to don the red and white, and jingle all the way! But, if you’re not feeling the holiday cheer just yet, we’ve got a little something that will surely put you in the Christmas spirit – editing photos with Santa hats in Photoshop!

Now, you may be thinking that this is a difficult task, but we promise it’s not as complicated as it sounds. With just a few simple steps, you can have your photos looking festive in no time at all.

The first thing you’ll need to do is open up your photo in Photoshop. Once your photo is open, create a new layer by clicking on the “Create a new layer” icon at the bottom of the Layers panel.

Next, select the Elliptical Marquee Tool from the toolbox on the left side of the screen. Then, position your cursor over the head of your subject and click and drag to create an oval shape. This will be where we place our Santa hat.

IMPORTANT: Make sure that your elliptical marquee is positioned slightly above the head, as Santa hats typically sit on top of the head, not directly on top of it.

Once you have your elliptical marquee in place, go to Edit > Fill and select “White” from the drop-down menu. This will fill your oval shape with white.

PRO TIP: This tutorial is for people who are new to Photoshop. In it, you will learn how to put a Santa hat on a photo using Photoshop. This may seem like a simple task, but it can be tricky if you don’t know what you’re doing. Be careful when following the steps in this tutorial, as you could easily end up with a mess of a photo if you’re not careful.

Now we need to add some dimension to our Santa hat. To do this, go to Layer > Layer Style > Bevel and Emboss.

In the Bevel and Emboss section, increase the Size to around 15px and set both the Gloss Contour and Highlight Mode to “Linear. ”

Next, we’re going to add a little bit of color to our hat. Go back to Layer > Layer Style and this time select “Color Overlay.” Set the color to red by clicking on the color swatch and selecting a nice Christmas-y red from the color picker.

Finally, all that’s left to do is add some finishing touches! To add a pom-pom to the end of our Santa hat, simply create a new layer and use a small paintbrush or pen tool to draw a small circle. Once you have your circle drawn, fill it with white using Edit > Fill.

And there you have it! Your very own Santa hat!

Photoshop is great for many things- including putting Santa hats on photos! Whether its for adding some holiday cheer or giving someone a good laugh, its easy to follow these steps and make your photo merry and bright.
