How do you put videos on Figma prototype?

Last updated on March 28, 2023 @ 7:29 am

Video content can be added to a Figma prototype using the Anima plugin. Videos can be added to a prototype as either embedded videos or videos that are hosted on a separate website.

To add a video to a Figma prototype, first, select the element where you want to add the video, then click on the Resources button at the top menu.

From there, select the Anima plugin from the Plugins tab, then click on the “Run” button on the right side of the option.

Once the Anima plugin is already running, make sure that you’re in the “Design to code” toolset. If you’re in a different toolset, simply click on the drop-down arrow beside the toolset name and select the “Design to code” toolset from the pop-up menu.

Now, to add a video to your Figma prototype, select “Media element” from the options.

NOTE: The Media element option in the Anima plugin lets you add videos, GIFs, or Lottie to any layer.

In the Media window, you can either paste your link to the Insert URL field or upload your own file. Once done, click on the “Next” button.

You will then see a preview of the video contained in the link. Once you’re done confirming the content, click on the “Save” button.

NOTE: You can also adjust other video settings such as Playback, Loop, Hide control panel, Add cover, and Mute.

Once done, click on the “Preview” button in the Anima plugin window.

And there you have it! Your video is now embedded in your Figma prototype!

NOTE: You can also choose to sync your design to an Anima project. To do this, simply click on the “Sync” button at the top menu.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that Figma does not currently support video in prototypes. Any videos added to a prototype will not be visible when the prototype is viewed.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, adding a video to your Figma prototype is easy with the Anima plugin! Simply select the “Media element” option from the running Anima plugin window, then paste the link of your video to the Insert URL field and click on the “Next” button. On the next page, you will see a preview of the video. Once done checking, you can then save it and see a preview of the added video to your design by clicking on the “Preview” button.
