How Do You Repeat a Selection in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 12:16 am

When you’re editing images in Photoshop, there are often times when you need to apply the same change to multiple areas of the image. Rather than make the same change over and over again, you can use the Repeat command to save time.

To repeat a selection in Photoshop, first make your initial selection. Then, go to Edit > Repeat or use the keyboard shortcut Control + F (Windows) / Command + F (macOS). This will bring up the Repeat dialog box.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, repeating a selection in Photoshop can result in losing your original selection. Make sure to create a new layer or group before repeating the selection to preserve your work.

In the Repeat dialog box, you can choose how many times you want to repeat the selection, as well as whether or not you want the selection to overlap. You can also choose a different blending mode and opacity for each repetition. When you’re satisfied with your settings, click OK.

Your selection will now be repeated according to your settings. To edit a repetition, simply click on it and make your changes. You can also delete a repetition by selecting it and pressing Delete (Windows) / Backspace (macOS).

Conclusion:

The Repeat command is a handy tool that can save you time when editing images in Photoshop. With just a few clicks, you can apply the same change to multiple areas of an image. And if you need to edit or delete a repetition, simply click on it and make your changes.
