PRO TIP: How Do You Soften a Texture in Photoshop?

If you are looking to soften a texture in Photoshop, be aware that this can easily lead to a loss of detail. When softening a texture, it is best to use a low opacity eraser tool and to work slowly and carefully.

There are a few ways that you can soften a texture in Photoshop. One way is to use the Blur tool. You can find the Blur tool in the Toolbox, under the category of Filter Tools.

Another way to soften a texture is to use the Smudge tool. The Smudge tool can also be found in the Toolbox, under the category of Filter Tools. Finally, you can use a layer mask to softened a texture.

To use the Blur tool, select the area that you want to blur. Then, click and hold down the left mouse button while moving the mouse in a circular motion. The further you move the mouse, the more blurred the area will become.

To use the Smudge tool, select the area that you want to smudge. Then, click and hold down the left mouse button while moving the mouse in a linear motion. The further you move the mouse, the more smudged the area will become.

To use a layer mask, create a new layer and then select the area that you want to soften. Next, click on the “Add Layer Mask” icon at the bottom of the Layers panel. A white box will appear next to your selected layer.

This indicates that a layer mask has been added to your selected layer. Finally, choose a softening brush from the Brush toolbox and then brush over the area that you want to soften. The black areas of your brush will determine which areas of your photo are softened.
