How Do You Split a Grid Photo on Instagram in Canva?

When it comes to Instagram, one of the most popular questions we get is how to split a grid photo in Canva. While there are a number of ways to do this, we’re going to show you our favorite method using the free design platform, Canva.

The first thing you’ll need to do is create a new design in Canva. For the dimensions, make sure it’s set to square and choose your background color. We usually opt for a white or light background so that the colors in our grid photo really pop.

Once you have your design created, upload the image you want to use for your grid photo. We like to use images that are bright and colorful for this type of design, but feel free to experiment with different images and see what looks best for your feed.

Once your image is uploaded, you’ll need to add some text. This is where you can get creative and have some fun with your grid photo. You can add quotes, song lyrics, or anything else that you think would look good on your feed.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to split a grid photo on Instagram using Canva, be warned that this may result in the loss of some of the photo’s quality. Additionally, make sure that you have a backup of the original photo before proceeding, as there is no guarantee that the split photo will look exactly the same as the original.

Once you have your text added, it’s time to start splitting up your image. For this part, you’ll want to use the “Divide” tool in Canva. You can find this tool in the left-hand menu under the “Elements” tab.

Once you have the “Divide” tool selected, click on the image and drag it until you have four equal sections. Once you have four sections, you can start playing around with the layout of your grid photo.

There are a few different ways that you can split up your grid photo. One popular method is to have two images side-by-side with two blocks of text on either side.

Another popular method is to have one large image with three smaller images on either side. Experiment with different layouts and see what looks best for your feed.

Once you have your layout finalized, all that’s left to do is export your image and upload it to Instagram. We like to export our images as PNG files so that they retain their quality when uploaded.
