How Do You Stop Cropping in Squarespace?

Last updated on December 30, 2022 @ 8:09 pm

If you’re a fan of clean, minimalist design, you’ll love cropping images in squares. It’s a great way to create simple, stylish compositions. But what if you want to stop cropping in squares?

The good news is, it’s easy to change the default cropping behavior in Squarespace. Just follow these steps:

  1. Open the Image Block settings panel.
  2. Click the “Aspect Ratio” tab.
  3. Select the “Freeform” option.
  4. Click “Save.”

Now, when you insert an image into a page or post, you’ll be able to crop it however you like. If you want to return to square cropping, just follow the steps above and select the “Square” option instead of “Freeform.”

PRO TIP: If you are using Squarespace to create a photo gallery, be aware that the default settings will crop your photos in squares. To avoid this, go to the Gallery tab in the Design panel and uncheck the “Crop Images to Fit” option.

Conclusion:

To sum it up, stopping the crop function in Squarespace is as easy as following the four steps listed above. First, open the Image Block settings panel. Second, click on the Aspect Ratio tab.

Third, select Freeform from the options given. Last but not least, don’t forget to click save! And there you have it, now your images can be cropped however you’d like them too.
