How Do You Turn Off Constraints in Figma?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 10:55 pm

In Figma, there are two types of constraints: those that are applied to an entire object, and those that are applied to individual sides of an object. To turn off constraints for an entire object, simply select the object and click the “Release Constraints” button in the Inspector.

To turn off constraints for individual sides of an object, first select the object. Then, in the Inspector, click the “Edit Constraints” button.

This will bring up the Constraints dialog box. In this dialog box, you can turn off constraints for any or all sides of the object.

Once you have turned off the constraints that you want to remove, simply click the “OK” button to close the dialog box and apply your changes.

PRO TIP: If you’re working in Figma and need to turn off constraints, be aware that this may cause problems with your design. If you’re not careful, turning off constraints can screw up your spacing and alignment.
