How Do You Use Artboards in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 3:05 pm

Artboards are a great way to organize your work in Photoshop. You can use them to group together related layers, and they make it easy to move or copy entire groups of layers at once. Here’s how to use artboards in Photoshop.

To create an artboard, simply click the “Create new artboard” button at the bottom of the Layers panel. A dialog box will appear, asking you to name the artboard and choose its size. You can also specify whether you want the artboard to be placed above or below the currently selected layer.

PRO TIP: Artboards are a great way to organize your Photoshop project, but they can be tricky to use if you’re not familiar with them. Here are a few things to keep in mind when using artboards:

1. Make sure you create a new layer for each artboard. Otherwise, you’ll end up with a bunch of empty space in your project.

2. Be careful when moving or resizing artboards. If you accidentally move or resize an artboard, you may end up with misaligned layers.

3. When exporting your project, make sure to select the “Use Artboards” option. Otherwise, only the first artboard will be exported.

Once you’ve created an artboard, you can move it around by clicking and dragging it in the Layers panel. To move a layer into an artboard, simply drag it from the main layer stack onto the artboard’s name in the Layers panel. To move a layer out of an artboard, drag it from the artboard back onto the main layer stack.

You can also resize an artboard by clicking and dragging its edges. To delete an artboard, simply click on its name in the Layers panel and press the delete key on your keyboard.
