How does Google Cloud Directory Sync synchronize directories?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 8:48 pm

Google Cloud Directory Sync synchronizes directories by using the synchronization API. This API allows for the synchronization of files and folders between directories on Google Cloud Storage and Google Drive.

PRO TIP: Google Cloud Directory Sync (GCDS) synchronizes data from your Google domain with your Microsoft Active Directory or LDAP server. It is important to note that GCDS does not support syncing data from multiple Google domains. Additionally, GCDS will only sync data for users and groups that exist in both your Google domain and your on-premises directory.

The synchronization process begins by creating a new folder on Google Drive and uploading the contents of the directory to Google Cloud Storage. Google Cloud Storage then synchronizes the files and folders between the two services.
