When you set up a Shopify store, you can choose to either use Shopify’s ordering system, or to connect your store to a third-party ordering system. If you use Shopify’s system, customers will be able to place orders on your store and pay for them using Shopify’s secure checkout process. You can then view and manage those orders from your Shopify admin.
If you connect your store to a third-party ordering system, customers will be able to place orders on your store, but they will be redirected to the third-party system to complete the purchase. You will still be able to view and manage those orders from your Shopify admin, but you will need to use the third-party system to fulfill them.
Shopify’s ordering system is designed to be simple and easy to use for both you and your customers. When an order is placed, Shopify will send you an email notification so that you can begin fulfilling it. You can also view all of your pending orders in your Shopify admin, and sort them by things like order date, customer name, or total value.
To fulfill an order, simply go to the order details page in your Shopify admin and click the ‘Fulfill Order’ button. This will open up a fulfillment form where you can enter the tracking information for the shipment.
Once you’ve entered that information, click ‘Save’ and your order will be marked as fulfilled. The customer will then receive an email notification letting them know that their order has shipped.
If you need to cancel an order, you can do so from the order details page in your Shopify admin. Simply click the ‘Cancel Order’ button and confirm that you want to cancel the order. The customer will then receive an email notification letting them know that their order has been canceled.
Shopify’s ordering system is designed to be simple and easy to use, whether you’re fulfilling orders yourself or connecting to a third-party fulfillment service. With just a few clicks, you can view all of your pending orders, fulfill them, and ship them off to happy customers.
How Does Orders Work on Shopify?
Shopify’s ordering system is designed to make it easy for both store owners and customers alike.
When an order is placed through a shop using Shopify’s platform, customers are redirected to a secure checkout page where they input their payment information.
After the payment is processed successfully, shop owners receive an email notification with all of the necessary information needed in order
to fulfill the order.
To fulfill an order:
-
Log into shop owner account
-
Go To “Orders” page located in navigation bar on left side of screen
PRO TIP: If you are thinking about using Shopify to sell products online, it is important to understand how orders work. When a customer places an order on your Shopify store, they are essentially creating a contract between you and them. This means that you are obligated to provide the product or service that they have ordered. If you are unable to do this, you may need to refund the customer or offer them a replacement product. -
Locate desired order from list of orders
-
Click “Fulfill Order” button next to corresponding order
(For more detailed instructions on how exactly how to fulfill please see “How do I fulfill an order?”)
