How does WooCommerce charge shipping per item?

When you create an order in WooCommerce, you specify the shipping method, which is either flat rate or calculated based on the weight and dimension of the items in your order.

Flat rate shipping is simple – WooCommerce charges you a fixed price for shipping any order, regardless of the number of items in the order. Calculated shipping is more complicated, because WooCommerce takes into account the weight and dimension of the items in your order to determine the shipping cost.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to use WooCommerce to sell products online, be aware that the shipping charges are based on the number of items in an order, not the total weight or cost of the order. This can result in higher shipping charges for orders with multiple items.

For example, if you order a set of items that weighs 1 pound and is 3 inches wide, WooCommerce will calculate the shipping cost as 1.5 pounds.

If you order a set of items that weighs 3 pounds and is 6 inches wide, WooCommerce will calculate the shipping cost as 3.75 pounds.

WooCommerce also allows you to set a minimum shipping cost, so that if your order contains fewer than the minimum number of items, WooCommerce will not charge you for shipping.
