HostGator offers SSL certificates for both their web hosting and domain name services. SSL is a security protocol that protects your online transactions from eavesdroppers. You can install SSL on HostGator through their Control Panel. To do this, first choose the domain or hosting account you want to secure, and then click on the Security tab. There, you will find the SSL installation options. To install a new SSL certificate, HostGator will require your domain name or hosting account information, the name of the certificate authority (CA), and the name of the domain or hosting account you want to secure. You will also be required to enter the serial number of the certificate.
Once you have completed these steps, click on the StartSSL button. This will initiate the SSL installation on your account. Once the installation is complete, you will be able to see the new SSL certificate in your account’s Security tab. Finally, you will need to activate the SSL certificate. To do this, click on the Security tab and then on the Activate SSL Certificate button. This will activate the SSL certificate and update the browser’s security settings to use the new certificate.
