How long was Azure down?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 11:58 am

Azure was down for “unknown reasons” for over an hour on January 23rd. Many people took to social media to express their dismay at the outage, with some even reporting that their businesses had been harmed as a result.

After an hour and a half, Azure was back up and running, and they have not yet released a statement about what caused the outage.

PRO TIP: If you are asking this question, it is likely that Azure is down for you. This could be due to a number of reasons, including an outage in your region, an issue with your subscription, or a problem with your account. If you are able to access the Azure portal, check the Service Health page for more information on the current status of Azure services.

Although Azure has not released a statement, it is likely that the outage was caused by a technical issue. Given that Azure is a massive cloud platform and is used by a wide variety of businesses, it is not surprising that there are occasional outages.

However, given the length of the outage and the negative response on social media, it is worth investigating what could have caused it.
