As of 2017, Canva is a privately held company with headquarters in Sydney, Australia.

Canva was founded in 2012 by Melanie Perkins, Cliff Obrecht and Cameron Adams. The company raised $3 million in its first round of funding led by US-based Sequoia Capital in 2013. In February 2014 Canva announced that it had raised an additional $15 million led by Australian venture capital firm Blackbird Ventures with participation from existing investors.
