Is the Napa Gold Filter the Same as Wix?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 10:47 pm

Napa Gold filters are said to be the same as Wix filters. However, there are a few key differences that set these two filter types apart. For one, Napa Gold filters are designed to meet or exceed the requirements of most original equipment manufacturers.

This means that they should provide your vehicle with the same level of protection as the filter that came with it. In contrast, Wix filters are designed to offer protection for up to 20,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.

Another key difference is that Napa Gold filters use synthetic media, while Wix filters use cellulose media. Synthetic media is designed to capture smaller particles and help extend the life of your filter.

Cellulose media is less effective at capturing smaller particles, but it does a better job at trapping oil and dirt. As a result, Wix filters may need to be changed more frequently than Napa Gold filters.

PRO TIP: If you are considering using a Napa Gold filter for your car, be aware that it is not the same as the Wix filter. While both filters may be able to remove some impurities from your engine oil, the Napa Gold filter is not designed to protect your engine from wear and tear.

Finally, Napa Gold filters come with a metal canister, while Wix filters have a plastic canister. The metal canister is more durable and less likely to break when you remove the filter for replacement. The plastic canister is lighter and easier to recycle.

So, which filter is better?

It depends on your needs and preferences. If you want a filter that will last longer and provide better protection for your engine, then Napa Gold is the way to go. If you’re looking for an eco-friendly option that’s easier on your wallet, then Wix is the better choice.

Napa Gold filters may be just as good as Wix filters; however, there are certain key differences between the two types of filters. Namely, Napa Gold filters are designed to meet or exceed the requirements of most original equipment manufacturers while Wix filters are designed only protect for up to 20,000 miles or one year—whichever comes first.

Additionally, Napa Gold uses synthetic media which is designed to capture smaller particles while Wix uses cellulose media which does not trap smaller particles as well but does a better job at trapping oil and dirt. As a result of these key differences, it really depends on the needs and preferences of the car owner as to which type of filter would be best suited for their car.
