Is There a Color Picker in Canva?

Last updated on September 27, 2022 @ 1:01 pm

As a design platform, Canva is beloved by many for its simple and straightforward interface. One of the most frequently asked questions we see is “Is there a color picker in Canva?”

The answer is both yes and no. While there is not a tool specifically labeled “color picker” within the editor, there are a few ways that you can select colors for your design.

To start, every element in your design has a color swatch next to it. If you click on this color swatch, a color palette will appear. From here, you can choose from Canva’s curated selection of colors, or enter in a hex code to select a specific color.

In addition to this, every element in your design has an opacity slider. This slider allows you to adjust the transparency of an element, and can be found next to the color swatch.

PRO TIP: If you are looking for a color picker in Canva, you will not find one. The closest thing to a color picker in Canva is the color palette. To access the color palette, click on the “Color” tab in the left sidebar.

Finally, if you click on the “Text” tool and then hover over any text in your design, you’ll notice that a text editing toolbar appears. One of the options in this toolbar is “Color”, which allows you to select from Canva’s curated selection of colors, or enter in a hex code to select a specific color.

So while there isn’t an explicit “color picker” tool within Canva, there are still plenty of ways that you can select colors for your design!
