Is There a Free Photo Editor Like Photoshop?

Last updated on November 19, 2022 @ 3:20 pm

As much as we love Adobe Photoshop, we have to admit that it’s not the most affordable software out there. If you’re looking for a free photo editor that can do some of the things Photoshop can, check out these seven options.

  1. GIMP
GIMP is probably the most well-known free alternative to Photoshop. It has a fairly steep learning curve but is very powerful once you get the hang of it. It can be used for tasks such as photo retouching, image composition, and creating graphics for web use.
  2. Paint.NET

Paint.NET is a fairly simple photo editor that’s great for basic tasks like resizing, cropping, and adding text to images. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of Photoshop, but it’s much easier to use.

  3. PhotoFiltre

PhotoFiltre is another fairly simple photo editor with a user-friendly interface. It’s great for basic tasks like cropping and resizing, but also has some more advanced features like layers and filters.

  4. IrfanView
IrfanView is a lightweight photo viewer and editor that’s very easy to use. It’s not as powerful as some of the other options on this list, but it’s perfect for quick tasks like resizing or adding watermarks to images.
  5. Adobe Photoshop Express

Adobe Photoshop Express is a free online photo editor from Adobe. It has all the basic features you would expect from a photo editor, plus some extras like collage making and automatic image correction.

Is There A Free Photo Editor Like Photoshop?

The short answer is yes, there are a few free Photo Editors out there that rival Photoshop in terms of features and power. However, depending on what you want to use them for, you may be better off sticking with Photoshop.

If you’re just looking for something to do some quick edits or touch-ups, then one of the simpler editors on this list may be better suited for your needs. However, if you’re looking for an alternative to Photoshop that can do everything that Photoshop can do (and sometimes more), then GIMP is definitely worth checking out.

So ultimately, it depends on what you need a Photo Editor for as to whether or not there’s a free one out there that’s right for you.

PRO TIP: There are many free photo editors available online, however, Photoshop is a professional software application and its features are much more advanced than any free photo editor. It is important to note that Photoshop is not free to download and use.
